A fender washer is a flat washer with a large outer diameter in proportion to its center hole. It is made of a thin piece of metal and is used to spread the load on thin sheet metal. The name fender washer comes from its use on automobile fenders. A fender washer can be attached to a bolt or screw through the hole in the center.
